Ms. Pihl

Thank you again for being available to meet us downstairs after I gets off the bus.  I don’t expect this to take more than a few days.  But the interim “baby” steps are helpful to I in making the transition back to taking the bus to school without my being present.
His bus is the Clark Road bus, second (late) shift.  The driver is Mary.  I don’t know the bus number.  It usually arrives at around 7:50 absent extra traffic.  We could meet you inside or on the sidewalk.  As I mentioned, we usually enter from the front door of the school at the top of the ramp.
If you need to reach me, my cell is ___________.  And thank you again for your help.  We really appreciate it.

B,

I am so happy to help I and your family during this transition time. Like him, I have been both excited and nervous for the start of the school year. I will meet you and I tomorrow morning right on the ramp. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help I become more comfortable during these next few weeks.

Thanks for being available for I.  We’ll see you out front at 750 or whenever you’re able to be there.  No hurry if you are busy.

Thanks again.

Alanna

Thanks again for all your help with I.  The change is dramatic in just the few days you’ve been meeting him.  I am hopeful that within a week he will be ready to do this on his own.

Today's "baby step" was I going to you with me remaining on the bus--at least as long as they'd let me.  Tomorrow, I may not be able to take him to school so J may end up driving.  Can I be in touch later this evening by email?  I wasn't sure how late you check it.

Thanks as always.

Hi B,

I seemed to do well this morning with the transition and I'm quite confident he'll continue to do so. I check my email quite frequently so if you were to try and reach me tonight I will definitely see the email either tonight or early tomorrow morning.

Best,

Alanna

J is driving I tomorrow as I can't take him. Is it possible for you to meet him in the back of the school where the crossing guard is at the crosswalk?  We were trying to avoid having J do much more than driving and dropping him off outside since separations from her can be particularly hard for I and we don't want him to get too comfortable with her walking him in etc.

If this is too inconvenient just let me know.

Thanks and good night.

Alanna,

Wondering if I said anything to you.  He took the bus today without my getting on with him.  He seemed very proud from the look on his face.  He and I have already started to talk about next steps which will involve the school arrival side and working towards meeting you in the classroom instead of on the street.  He already has ideas of how to get to that point like meeting you inside the door instead of outside.  I think he’ll get to where he needs to be pretty quickly at this point.  I’ll talk to him tonight and email you again with his plan.
Thanks for all your help.

Hi B,

I didn't mention anything to me this morning but had a huge smile on his face when he got off the bus. He was very friendly and seemed to be in a great mood. I'm confident that I will come up with a great plan for tomorrow.

I understand you are having a great week leading the class. I was really glad to hear that but not surprised at all.

I wanted you to know that he is nervous about music today. I'm sure he'll be fine but he still wanted me to be sure to let you know.

Have a great day. And thanks.

Hi B,

I came to me right in the morning and was able to voice his feelings. We were able to come to an agreement where I would go down to music ten minutes after he left and would stay until two. He did very well adjusting.

Have a nice weekend (heard the boys are having a sleepover, Good Luck!)
